Identical in every regard to Canon’s other Rebel T6 DSLRs, including its 18-megapixel CMOS sensor and Canon Digic 4+ image processor, this newly added model features a silver color scheme accented by a brown hand grip.
A silver camera body isn’t unheard of for Canon, especially in its entry-level camera options, but the brown accent alongside the silver is a bit out of character for Canon, who has stuck almost exclusively with black grips for its DSLRs, entry-level or not.
Also interesting is the way in which the new camera showed up. No official announcement was made by Canon and while we’ve reached out for comment, we are yet to hear an official statement. Despite this, the new camera appears to be available and “In Stock” directly from Canon’s online store as a kit alongside Canon’s EF-S 18–55mm f/3.5–5.6 IS II kit lens. Interestingly, it only shows up via direct link and can’t be found via search or the various browsing features.
The downfall of a silver camera body is that almost any Canon lens you’re going to get your hands on will be black, which will make for quite the interesting color scheme when paired with the silver and brown. However, if you’ve been bitten by the retro bug and want something that looks like Canon’s older offerings from years long past, it might be for you.
