JVC Everio GZ-HM1 HD Camcorder Packs 64 GB

JVC has unveiled its new Everio GZ-HM1 camcorder at the high end of its Everio line, packing in 64 GB of onboard storage (plus an SDHC slot) along with improved image stabilization and improved low-light capability compared to the previous GM-HM400 model. The GZ-HM1 also has improved digital still capability, shooting “real” 10 megapixel digital stills with sensitivity all the way down to ISO 6400.

According to JCV, the GZ-HM1 features a new CMOS sensor that boosts sensitivity for four Lux, compared to non Lux in the previous GM-Hm400—the result is the ability to capture full 1080p high-definition video in low-light situations. JVC has also introduced improvements to its anti-shake technology that improve wide-angle performance, particularly when the user is tracking a subject with the camera.

But the features don’t stop there: the GZ-HM1 sports a Konica Minolta lens with a 10× optical zoom, 1080/60p HDMI output, microphone input, headphone output, and a complete range of manual controls that give videographers strong control over what they capture, and a top-mount accessory shoe for add-ons. For folks who want things a little less manual, the GZ-HM1 sports face detection, auto-record, a built-in flash, and one-touch export and upload to YouTube. The GZ-HM1 also supports time-lapse recording, and high-speed recording at up up to 600 fps.

According to JVC, the GZ-HM1 should be available now (well, “in March”) for a suggested retail price of $1,199.95.

Best microSD cards in 2023: top picks for your computer, camera, or drone
galaxy s8 tips and tricks

MicroSD cards are an unsung hero in the mobile space. They provide extra storage space for your smartphone, but they're also key in tablets, drones, and security cameras. Unfortunately, this feature is falling out of favor in the smartphone space, and most flagship and midrange phones no longer have a slot to insert a microSD card. Even the most expensive phones around, like the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 and the Samsung S22 Ultra don't have a microSD card slot anymore. You're not even safe if you have an iPhone or iPad, as they've never had microSD card slots.

But all is not lost! Some of the best Android phones and best Android tablets do still support them, and they're still required for use with cameras, security cameras, and drones. But no matter which device you're buying it for, you'll want to get your hands on a microSD card from a reputable brand.
