Canon today unveiled a wide array of new digital cameras and photo printers. One of the chief among these was the new flagship PowerShot S80, an eight megapixel camera to be available in October for $549.99.
The PowerShot S80 offers a host of features which make it one of Canon’s top digital cameras, said Canon. It has a 2.5†color LCD, XGA movie mode, high speed USB 2.0 file transfers, a wide angle UA lens with 3.6x wide-angle optical zoom, improved auto focus, a compact design in a combination aluminum magnesium alloy and high gloss aluminum body, 21 shooting modes, a proprietary imaging processor and a full accessory kit.
“Canon’s new PowerShot S80 model is a high-grade camera that offers superior image quality and a feature set on par with our more advanced models,” said Yukiaki Hashimoto, senior vice president and general manager of the Consumer Imaging Group at Canon U.S.A., Inc., a subsidiary of Canon Inc. “Along with improving on our earlier models, we are offering features not seen in other digital cameras before including a stunning new XGA movie mode that rivals the video output of some high-end digital camcorders.”
