The clip was shot entirely on GoPro’s Omni multi-camera rig, which retails for $5,000 with six Hero4 Black cameras included. GoPro VR: The Fourth Phase in 360 – Snowboard with Travis Rice

Update September 13, 2016: GoPro just shared a brief clip from “Rice’s Raw Files” that shows him dropping in on a gnarly line. It’s short, but will give you yet another reason to get stoked for the full film. Here’s the clip:

GoPro: Rice's Raw Files V1.0

Snowboarding fans have been waiting nearly five years for a new film from acclaimed pro rider Travis Rice. Since his last film, The Art of Flight, was released in 2011, there has been little in the way of new videos from Rice, but GoPro has finally released the first footage from his upcoming film, The Fourth Phase.

The two-and-a-half-minute trailer reveals some incredible point-of-view action, all shot in 4K on GoPro Hero4 Black cameras.

Perhaps the most anticipated snowboarding film of all time, The Fourth Phase follows Rice as he attempts to tackle the world’s largest lines in locations around the globe, from Alaska to Japan to Jackson Hole, Wyoming, according to a GoPro blog post. Joining Rice on the adventure is a long list of accomplished riders, including Mark Landvik, Eric Jackson, Bryan Iguchi, Pat Moore, and many others. GoPro believes the film will set a new benchmark for sports videos.

The film has been three years in the making, easily surpassing the two-year production schedule for The Art of Flight. If this trailer is any indication, the new film will undoubtedly be worth the wait. It will include POV footage of Rice’s first descent down what’s now known as “The Crack,” a narrow passage between two large rock faces in Alaska that won “line of the year” after skier Cody Townsend ran it in 2015. Rice was actually the first person to ride it, but has been sitting on the footage, waiting for the debut of The Fourth Phase.

As exciting as the trailer is, itself, it only serves to further whet the appetite of snowboarding fans. Fortunately, the full video is little more than a month away, with an exclusive premiere scheduled for October 2 on Red Bull TV. For more information, stay tuned to the film’s official website.

GoPro Hero8 Black vs. GoPro Hero7 Black: Worth the upgrade?
gopro hero8 black review dm 4

We're very impressed with the new GoPro Hero8 Black, but last year's Hero7 Black is no slouch and is still available new and at a lower price. Here's what you need to know about the differences between these two top action cameras before deciding if the premium is worth it for GoPro's latest and greatest. With an MSRP of $400 for the Hero8 Black and $330 for the Hero7 Black (currently available for $300 during Cyber Week), the price difference isn't huge and the older Hero7 should meet the needs of many customers who want to save a few bucks.

However, if for any reason you miss these deals, there are always Black Friday GoPro deals to look forward to.
Design
The Hero8 Black is the first new physical design in four generations of GoPro. It incorporates a mount into the camera body itself, which means you no longer need a mounting frame or case. This makes the camera smaller overall compared to the Hero7 Black, and also allows you to swap the battery and memory card without removing the camera from whatever it's mounted to. The lens also protrudes less from the body and its cover glass is now twice as strong.
