PORTLAND, ORE. – DECEMBER 11, 2014 – Digital Trends, a leading consumer technology publisher, today announced the completion of “DT Home,” a 6,000-square-foot facility adjacent to its editorial and business headquarters in Portland, Oregon. The state-of-the-art editorial testing facility includes a home theater, kitchen, bath, and laundry room where Digital Trends staff can test the latest gadgets and appliances and deliver the cutting-edge reviews its audience relies on.

Replicating a genuine home environment will allow Digital Trends to better test and review technology like wireless speakers, home theater sound bars, refrigerators, dishwashers, washers and dryers, ovens, vacuums, and other appliances in the same environment that a consumer would use them at home. Digital Trends will continue to test and review technology that is relevant to its core demographic of 25-to 44-year-old college educated males with an annual salary of $100,000.

“Most consumer technology and home electronics and appliances get tested in a clinical lab, cubicles, or in the back of office space,” said Ian Bell, CEO and Publisher at Digital Trends. “But that’s not how these products are being used in real-life, and it’s not an accurate reflection of how they can impact our lives. Our vision for DT Home is to create an aspirational living space that models our readers’ interests and provides an environment for more accurate testing of the products they care most about.”

The sleek, modern-style addition is located at US Bank Tower in downtown Portland and expands Digital Trends’ overall office space to almost 14,000 square feet. Digital Trends has operated in the building since 2009 and this is its first expansion. Real estate firm Jones Lang LaSalle brokered the agreement for the new facility and it was designed in collaboration with Portland-based LRS Architects and Russell Construction.

The expansion comes at a time of unprecedented growth for Digital Trends, which has grown to 35 employees in Portland and more than 50 nationwide, a 100 percent increase since 2012. Digital Trends recently added offices in San Francisco and Chicago and has an editorial and business office in New York City. Digital Trends has doubled its readership every year since inception and now reaches 20 million unique visitors each month.
