Hilarious new Tumblr blog pokes fun at Tinder’s ‘Male Feminists’

tinder social group meetup feature
Tinder users tend to have a great sense of humor. Alas, you have to see the funny side of things when taking part in an app arguably built on superficial first impressions.

Some of the male users of Tinder, however, are using their profiles to display their commitment to a cause they are passionate about; namely feminism. “Male Feminists of Tinder” is a new Tumblr blog, which is currently collecting screenshots of the men it terms the “good guys” of the dating app, though it mixes in some sarcastic asides. In the process, it provides some hilarious examples of the men who, in some cases, are reducing a groundbreaking movement to a mere buzzword on a hook-up app.

One of the male feminists shown on the site goes so far as to term himself a “feminist in the street, misogynist in bed.” We have to wonder if he got the memo as to what actually constitutes feminism. The blog presents a range of profiles of men who champion the cause, so you can pick your flavor, or just peruse for your own anthropological purposes.

“Male Feminists of Tinder” is the brainchild of comedian and Cosmopolitan.com co-editor Lane Moore, according to New York Magazine. Moore recently posted a tweet in which she asked people to submit examples of “these everyday heroes” that they’d come across on the app.

You can get in on the ground floor of this project, since at present, the Tumblr page carries only a handful of posts. So if you’ve by chance encountered one of these stand-up guys (and you have taken a screenshot of his profile), you may be able to gift it to the blog.

Meanwhile, guys, remember feminism is for life, and not just for Tinder.

Correction: The original article incorrectly listed Moore’s name. It has been corrected.

Twitter CEO Linda Yaccarino tweeted on Monday that despite the current fuss over Meta’s new and very similar Threads app, Twitter had its largest usage day last week.

Subtly including the name of Meta’s new app, which launched to great fanfare last Wednesday, Yaccarino did her best to sing Twitter’s praises, tweeting: “Don’t want to leave you hanging by a thread … but Twitter, you really outdid yourselves! Last week we had our largest usage day since February. There’s only ONE Twitter. You know it. I know it.”

The pandemic was supposed to have made us all comfortable with video calls, but many folks still don’t particularly enjoy the process.

Having to think about what to wear, or how our hair looks, or even fretting about puffy eyes following another bout of hay fever can sometimes be a bit much, even more so if it’s an early-morning call and your brain is still in bed.
