Misfit started out with its very subtle, chic wearable: the Shine. Since then, the company has expanded to offer more variations of its fitness tracker, added additional functionality, and even ventured into the smart home space with the Bolt lightbulb and the Beddit sleep monitor. To continue forward, Misfit is adding its very own dashboard where users can control all their Misfit devices, and adding If This Then That (IFTTT) functionality to its cheaper Flash wearable.
Misfit’s new dashboard lets you see all the data from your Shine, Flash, or Beddit right in your Web browser. You can see more detailed data from your step count, calories burned, how well you slept, and the distance you’ve traveled. The Web interface also makes it easier to see trends in your data over time. You can zoom in on your weekly and monthly data views to get a more comprehensive overview of your wellness metrics.
All of Misfit’s fitness trackers will also receive better HealthKit integration, thanks to an app update. Now, your sleep and weight data are visible right in the HealthKit app.
In addition to the new dashboard and HealthKit integration, Misfit announced that its $50 Flash fitness tracker will now work with IFTTT, so you can control all your smart home appliances, apps on your phone, and other actions like emails right from your wrist. If you’ve ever used IFTTT, then you know that the sky’s the limit when it comes to actions you can program with the software. Misfit gives the example of setting the Flash to respond to various taps and presses. A double tap could activate tracking for a workout, set an alarm, or send an email to your boss.
You can set up your Flash to turn on your lights, adjust your thermostat, and click on your favorite TV show when you come home — just through a single tap or long press. The smart home controls are made possible by Misfit’s partnership with the Logitech Harmony Home Hub, which connects more than 225,000 devices.
Both of these partnerships were first announced back in the end of January, but now they’ve finally a reality for Misfit wearers to enjoy.
