Xiaomi Mi Smartwatch news and rumors

Xiaomi hints its first smartwatch will arrive sooner rather than later

Looking to buy your first smartwatch? Another option may be on its way! Xiaomi is set to take the wraps off of its first real smartwatch, which is rumored to be called the Mi Smartwatch or the Mi Watch.

To date we’ve only heard whispers about the device, and it really wasn’t even certain that Xiaomi was indeed releasing a smartwatch. That all changed in late April, though, when Liu De, the co-founder and VP of Xiaomi, revealed that the company was in fact working on a smartwatch and that it will be released sometime in the second quarter of 2016 after May.

Unfortunately, the announcement that the smartwatch exists is basically all we know about it, although it was reported last year that the watch would include a brushed metal design and a large round dial. Given that plans for the watch have been confirmed, however, we can expect to hear more about it in the near future. If it’s going to compete with Android Wear watches like the Moto 360, Huawei Watch, and the LG Watch Urbane; it has to look spectacular.

It will also be interesting to see which operating system the watch runs and how it handles apps. While Xiaomi’s smartphones run Android, they generally don’t feature the Google Play Store, so it’s unclear whether the watch will run Android Wear or a proprietary OS.

Regardless, it looks like Xiaomi is serious about entering the world of smartwatches. It recently unveiled a smartwatch for kids priced at just 300 Yuan, or around $46. Of course, it’s also known for devices like the Mi Band, which is a fitness tracker that has been doing quite well since it was released.

We’ll update this article when we get more details about the Xiaomi smartwatch, so stay tuned!

Google Pixel Watch 2: rumored price, release date, news, and more
Google Pixel Watch with two different strap styles.

Google is a brand that we all know and either love or hate. Aside from being the company behind many web services, Google has done quite well with its Pixel smartphones — with the latest being the Google Pixel 7 family. In 2022, Google also released its first smartwatch, the Google Pixel Watch, though it received mixed reviews overall.

We’re expecting Google to release a follow-up to the Pixel Watch sometime this year in the form of the Pixel Watch 2 and, hopefully, it will improve upon what was already established with the original.

Nothing Phone 2: news, release date, price rumors, and more
Nothing Phone (2) leaked photos.

The Nothing Phone 1 made its debut in July 2022, and it had a reasonable amount of hype behind it due to the involvement of Carl Pei, a co-founder of OnePlus. It was a quirky phone due to the unique light show on the back that makes it stand out from the competition, but on the software front, it’s very similar to other Android phones out there. It received mixed reviews, though the consensus leaned more toward the positive side.

This year, we’re expecting the Nothing Phone 2, as confirmed by Pei in January during Mobile World Congress 2023. Here’s everything we know so far about the Nothing Phone 2!

Apple Watch Series 9: news, rumors, and what we want to see
The Apple Watch Ultra with the Apple Watch Series 8 and Watch SE 2.

The Apple Watch Series 8 was a bit of a boring release for Apple’s wearable, as it wasn’t a huge upgrade over the Apple Watch Series 7; Apple seemed to spend more energy focusing on the Apple Watch Ultra instead. The only real upgrades for the Series 8 were the newer-generation S8 chip and a new body temperature sensor, though the use cases for that are pretty limited. But if you didn’t have a Series 7, then the Apple Watch Series 8 was still a great upgrade for those coming from older models.

We’re still a few months away from Apple revealing the next generation of Apple Watch with a Series 9 model, which is most likely coming sometime in the fall, along with the iPhone 15. But until then, here’s what we know so far, as well as what we're hoping to see in the Apple Watch Series 9.
