Starting Thursday morning, Prime Now is available in select ZIP codes in Baltimore and Miami, and the service will expand to encompass more ZIP codes in each city over time. In both cities the service is available from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m., seven days a week. Two-hour delivery is free, while one-hour delivery is available in “select ZIP codes” for $7.99.
“Customers in Manhattan and Brooklyn love Prime Now—it means you can skip a trip to the store and get the items you need delivered right to your door in under an hour,” Amazon’s senior vice president of worldwide operations said in a press release announcing the expansion. “Since launching, we’ve seen high demand on everything from essentials like water and paper towels to more surprising deliveries like getting a customer a hard-to-find, top-selling toy in 23 minutes—we are excited to continue delivering to customers in record-breaking time.”
For customers that live in either of the newly added cities and aren’t sure whether they’re eligible for the service, Amazon has a solution. Download the Prime Now app — available for both iOS and Android — and you’ll be notified when the service is available in your area. As the name implies, to use the service at all you’ll need an Amazon Prime membership, which will cost you $99 per year.
Amazon is quickly expanding operations behind Prime Now, and says that the one-hour delivery service will continue to roll out to additional cities throughout 2015.
