Amazon brings its speedy Prime Now one-hour delivery service to Baltimore and Miami

Prime Now one-hour delivery service was a cool concept when Amazon launched it last year, but there were few people who could actually try it out. Initially limited to one Manhattan ZIP code, the service expanded within New York last month. Now it’s finally coming to other cities, Amazon announced today.

Starting Thursday morning, Prime Now is available in select ZIP codes in Baltimore and Miami, and the service will expand to encompass more ZIP codes in each city over time. In both cities the service is available from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m., seven days a week. Two-hour delivery is free, while one-hour delivery is available in “select ZIP codes” for $7.99.

“Customers in Manhattan and Brooklyn love Prime Now—it means you can skip a trip to the store and get the items you need delivered right to your door in under an hour,” Amazon’s senior vice president of worldwide operations said in a press release announcing the expansion. “Since launching, we’ve seen high demand on everything from essentials like water and paper towels to more surprising deliveries like getting a customer a hard-to-find, top-selling toy in 23 minutes—we are excited to continue delivering to customers in record-breaking time.”

For customers that live in either of the newly added cities and aren’t sure whether they’re eligible for the service, Amazon has a solution. Download the Prime Now app — available for both iOS and Android — and you’ll be notified when the service is available in your area. As the name implies, to use the service at all you’ll need an Amazon Prime membership, which will cost you $99 per year.

Amazon is quickly expanding operations behind Prime Now, and says that the one-hour delivery service will continue to roll out to additional cities throughout 2015.

Amazon’s Fallout series adds Walton Goggins to its cast
Walton Goggins in Justified.

There's a very familiar face coming to Amazon Prime Video's adaptation of the video game series Fallout. But if the rumor is true, we'll have trouble recognizing Walter Goggins under heavy makeup. Deadline is reporting that Goggins has been cast in the live-action Fallout series, and "he is believed to be playing Ghoul."

The Fallout video games are a hit franchise that was created by Bethesda Softworks in 1997. The games take place in a uniquely envisioned postapocalypse that mixes a 1940s vision of the future with a grim wasteland created by a nuclear war in the year 2077. In the games, ghouls are people who have been horribly mutated due to overexposure to radiation. They could pass for zombies, but they aren't actually members of the undead. It's unclear if Goggins' character will have a proper name.

Amazon Prime Video renews Reacher for a second season
Alan Ritchson stares intently at something in Reacher.

Reacher season 1 premiered three days ago on Amazon Prime Video, but that's all the time that was needed to earn it a renewal. Earlier today, Prime Video confirmed that Reacher season 2 is officially going forward with the further adventures of Jack Reacher. The series is based upon Lee Child's Jack Reacher novels, which were previously adapted on the big screen with Tom Cruise as Reacher. For Prime Video's series, former Titans star Alan Ritchson has stepped into the role of Jack Reacher.

"Partnering with Amazon Studios for season 1 of Reacher was a total delight – they had our backs every step of the way, and it really shows, in every line and every frame," said Child in a statement. "So I'm thrilled we'll be working together again, for season 2. This is very exciting news, and I can't wait to get started. Reacher couldn't be in better hands."
