Chrome 13 beta brings Instant Pages and Print Preview

Google revealed all the new features coming to Search earlier this week, and today you’ll be able to get your hands on many of them with the release of the Chrome 13 beta. The download for the test version of the new browser is available now, and while there are over 5,000 total changes and additions, here’s the shorter, more interesting version of what you can expect to see (the total log of revisions can be found here).

Instant Pages

Google one-upped its Instant Search technology with Instant Pages, a service that prerenders the top result from your search query while you review the available links. If you do end up choosing the number one option (and Google is fairly certain you will), the page will load automatically, taking out wait time. Google explained earlier this week that Instant Pages works when it’s almost entirely sure that the top results is what you’re looking for, so as not to waste bandwidth prerendering pages every time you perform a search.

Before you get too excited, some early tests have showed that Instant Pages hasn’t been universally implemented on all Google’s servers yet, so don’t be too disappointed if the feature isn’t immediately working for you.

Print Preview

Issue number 173 has plagued Chrome forever. Literally. The glitch was acknowledged by users and then by Google in 2008 when Chrome was first launched, and has since become one of the most glaring issues for users. Now, you will finally be able to use Print Preview with Chrome. Using the browser’s PDF-viewer you can display a page you want to print, and you can see the page’s formatting change as you alter print settings to your desire. There will also be a Print to PDF option.

Omnibox update

What would a Chrome upgrade be without a new omnibox function? The Chrome team says its “added some awesome to the omnibox by suggesting partial matches for URLs and page titles from your browsing history.” This means that using the omnibox for search gets a little bit easier and if you’ve been listening to a particular song or visiting a certain site a lot lately, Chrome will suggest the location to you right away based on your recent browsing history.

When is Prime Day 2023? Dates confirmed for the shopping event

After weeks of speculation, we finally know when Prime Day 2023 is kicking off. Amazon has announced that the event will start July 11 at 3AM ET and will run through July 12. As always, Prime members can score some fantastic deals from the sale with popular brands like Peloton, Victoria's Secret, YETI, and Sony just some of the names being touted by Amazon as featuring in the big sale. Members will also be able to shop more deals on small business products than ever before too. As always, expect great discounts on Amazon-owned properties like Kindles, Ring doorbells, Amazon Echo units, and so much more. It's the sale we've all been waiting for since Black Friday.

The Prime Day deals promise to drop every 30 minutes during select periods with deep discounts expected. Select discounts on other Amazon-related things are already available such as 20% off in-store purchases at when you spend $50 or more and . It's a small taste of what is no doubt to come with other Amazon properties likely to see discounts.

Another big sale is happening at the same time as Prime Day

Target just revealed that Target Circle Week will run from July 9 to July 15, overlapping with Amazon's Prime Day that's scheduled for July 11 to July 12.

The big sale event will be open to members of the retailer's Target Circle loyalty program, who will be able to receive discounts of up to 50% for certain items. If you're not yet a member, don't worry -- you can join at any time, and membership is free. Once you've signed up, you'll be able to earn 1% from every purchase to redeem at a later time, access exclusive deals, and get 5% off for your birthday, among other benefits.
