Air Shady could soon land on your feet in a week. Eminem has teamed up with Detroit apparel company Carhartt to auction ten pairs of his upcoming, special edition of the Nike Air Jordan IV collaboration sneaker on eBay.
Eminem and Carhartt’s special edition Air Jordan IV show the two brands’ collaboration from the sole to the laces. Carhartt is known for rugged workwear and its signature canvas material is used for the sneaker’s upper. Below the iconic Jumpman image that is synonymous with Jordan Brand is the wordmark “ShadyXV,” commemorating the 15th anniversary of Eminem’s Shady Records. The hockey mask Eminem has ominously donned during many performances and his signature backwards E are also featured on the shoe’s heel.
The sneakers are referred to as the “friends and family” edition of the Air Jordan IV’s, and the proceeds from the shoes’ auction being donated to the Marshall Mathers Foundation, which helps at-risk youth in Detroit. This marks the third time one of the greatest rappers of all time partnered with the greatest basketball player of all time. In 2005, Jordan Brand released a special edition Air Jordan IV to commemorate the release of Eminem’s fourth album Encore. A decade later, the limited edition sneaker was selling for over $20,000 on the resale market. Three years after his 2005 special edition sneakers, Slim Shady and His Airness collaborated on a special pair of the Air Jordan 2. Seven years later, that sneaker is reselling for over $3,700 on the resale market.
Eminem’s foundation also collaborated with Carhartt last year for a limited edition hoodie. Further details on the auction, such as time and duration will be released later on Eminem’s official website.
